GRACE Home for Children

Hello Friends:

The reason you are receiving this email is because you have, in one way or another, expressed an interest in being kept up to date on the progress of the orphanage.  So, I will send these out periodically to keep you posted.  If you do not want to receive the emails that often, please let me know and I will remove your name.  I will be including a monthly update via the newsletter so you might prefer that.  Anyway, just let me know.

The boundaries have been marked and the fence line slashed.  Holes have been dug for the fence posts on two sides.  The other two sides will be completed after the sorghum is harvested as someone has planted that land and we did not want to destroy someone's garden.  So, that should be done in another week or so.  The contractor and I agree that we do not want to start the foundation and serious construction until the fence is up so we can lock up the materials at night.

Just putting the fence up is a really labor-intensive process.  There are no precise measuring machines, no earth moving machinery, not even a post hole digger.  Everything is done by hand.  Img 9554 shows the tools they are using to remove a tree stump and imgs 9558 and 9550 shows them cutting the stump.  Img 9560 shows them measuring the depth of the hole with a stick.  Like I said, no fancy tools here.

Imgs 9556 and 9562 shows the end to end boundaries on two sides.  In 9556 you can barely see the church in the background.  The lot is huge at 200 X 200 meters so we should have plenty of room for some sustainability projects.

Let me know if you do not want to continue to receive these frequently.  I will understand.

Grace, peace, and joy to you,

Libby
